Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one.

As a current manager, I can honestly say the management process is abusive. Individual contributors are often treated poorly, at least behind the scenes. You are pressured as a manager to constantly push people and to stack rank team members. On many occasions I've been forced to give good employees bad ratings simply because of politics and the requirement for stack ranking.

Amazon is an amazing company, and if you hit the culture points and live to the principals, you can go far. That being said, things have been back and forth throughout the pandemic, and it's so hard to figure out to what extent we stay remote, if we go hybrid, or if we go back to classic office life. I hope we stay remote, but I'm worried it may not happen.
